Future AP Psych Students
First off, I’d like to say that ap psych is definitely a class you should consider. It is a very interactive and student oriented class compared to many other rigorous ap classes. Psychology as a whole is a very interesting subject as it pertains to life much more than other ap classes woul. I myself found it very interesting learning as to why we perform certain habits, how our behavior is derived from external and internal sources, and many more. The class for those planning on taking it is based of off primarily note taking and group work. Ms. Halfen will teach the class the unit and afterwards we do a variety of activities further enforcing the information needed for the test. Vocabulary is also very essential to the class. Vocabulary is optional because your test grade will also be your vocab grade if you choose not to take it, however it is not recommended as one, you do not learn the vocab (most likely), and two the test is pretty difficult making it hard to maintain a high grade if you do bad on it. Although the tests are very hard a lot of the time, I would still recommend taking the class as it is very useful as a college credit. Many degrees require a psych credit and saving money on it now is very helpful. Also, although the tests are hard, she has other grades such as blog posts and group grades so that you still maintain a good grade. One suggestion I would have to make would be going over our tests. Personally I found it difficult to perform well on the tests because I really didn’t have an effective way of knowing how to really answer certain questions. If we went over common missed questions and aspects of the test missed, I believe students would start to perform much better on later tests. All in all I would have to say that I enjoyed the class as a whole. It was fun, engaging, and interesting which is something very rare for a class to have in my opinion.

Anything Post
I have wondered how our need for attention becomes obsolet as we go from a child to an adult. What I mean by this is how we do not always find the need to seek out attention or even want it by the time we grow older. As children, we often said or heard other children say “watch me do this” or “look what I can do”. However as we grow older this trait of ours seems to disappear.
The Need For Attention
Where is our receptor for attention? There isn’t one. The best guess as to why is that we probably didn’t need one throughout our long history as hunter-gatherers. Most tribes that crossed the savannah were likely small enough to ensure that everybody knew everyone else. Being in the constant presence of one another, individuals could easily discern when others required attention, so help and support were offered naturally. In today’s world, we are much more separate from each other, even in our own homes. But our bodies were not designed to live in walled-off rooms where even an unexpected knock on the door can be perceived as an intrusion. However the need for attention is still active even today. Our relationships and the strength of them are determined based of this. The sound of someone’s voice on the phone can change your mood, who you’re around can change how much effort you put into your tasks, and being around your special partner can make you want to desire them more. These traits all are affected by our need for attention as human beings. Regardless if someone considers themself as extroverted or introverted, this trait does not change.

Week 6
Jung personality Test: This was a series of questions which gave you situations and how strongly your response to them was. At the end of the test, you were given a score which contained 4 letters that ultimately determined your personality. I received an ESFP which meant that I was considered an entertainer.
Test your Morality Test: This was a test designed to determine what drives a persons sense between right and wrong. It gave multiple situations in which you would have to judge based on your sense of judgement. I believe this test was fairly accurate because my sense of morality is based on things such as justice and sensibility
Big 5 test: This was a test of 160 questions that had a wide range of personality type questions. This test was determined to help you understand yourself more and ultimately determine what type of person you are. I would say the test is fairly accurate because I see myself as open minded and tend to be more extroverted while remaining introverted at times.
Dark side of Personality Teat: This was a test to see if a person had 3 traits; Narcissism, Machiavellianism, and Psychopathy. It did this by asking a variety of questions about suicide, illegal situations, etc. I’d say this test is somewhat accurate as I do care about other people’s opinion to a somewhat degree. Although I would not say it determines my entire viewpoint, people’s opinions can influence me.
Perfectionism Teat: This was a test designed to determine if a person has a sense of perfectionism and how strongly that sense is. It did this by asking a variety of situations and how you would handle them. My results were that I had a healthy sense of perfectionism and it varied depending on the task that I was given. I would say this test was accurate seeing and the specificity of the test allowed for an accurate reading.

Who Am I? This is a test designed to determine how your character determines your viewpoint on life and your outlook on it. It does this by giving you a variety of pictures and you choosing which you feel is the best. It’s a fun test because not much thinking is required and it doesn’t take very long.

Week 5
This webpage article was about the sense of taste and giving 12 interesting facts about it which most people would not have known. In class we have actually gone over some such as taste being controlled by the brain or how without smell, taste essentially does not exist. But some new things were also brought up such as how sweet foods actually help develop episodic memory. Episodic memory is memory that’s associated with an event particularly small so maybe the taste of something. Also I did the color challenge and found out that I can see colors perfectly fine. In fact I got a 0 which is a perfect score, so that’s pretty cool.

Week 4 Life Story
I was born on September 18th 2001 in New York City. Both my mom and my dad were born in different parts of South India. They both traveled together to America where they had my older brother Allan in 96. 5 years later they decided to have me. I guess I was just too much to handle because all of my parents generation of both my mom's side and my dad's side stopped having kids after I was born. As such I grew up the youngest in my family and with a pretty big age gap between all my cousins. However, I didn't really care for that because most of my time was spent with my closest friends Arun and Rufus who I met in New York. One memory that I can clearly remember was the first time visiting New York again and seeing them for the first time since I was 5. I was 9 and even though it had been 4 years, our friendship was still strong. I remember we made all sorts of promises with eachother like how we'd be the best man at eachother's weddings and we'd all have kids that would be best friends with eachother. In elementary school, things were different for me. Obviously as a kid, I hated the fact that I had to move away from my friends and go to Texas. As such I had a hard time really making myself at home or making any close friendships in elementary. Going into middle school, I completely changed. I became a more open minded person and more adventurous when it came to trying new things. In high school, I learned a lot more about what I wanted to be like and the things I wanted to accomplish. I started especially becoming more involved with my church. Balancing social life with school work and church activities really helped me learn my strengths and see my weaknesses as well.
Future: After graduating high school, I'll go into college for a program in radiology. If I can preferably UT would be my choice as they have a great program there. Before I get married, I would want to have myself established financially. I would marry before I'm 30 and do not have a preference on the number of kids I have. I definitely would like to have a girl however because my Mom always wanted to have one. I will probably retire once my kids have jobs and I would want to live life for as long as I can so I could see my grandkids or even great grandkids.

Week 3 Bio Heroes
Category: Temporal Lobe, Dopamine
Hero: Static Sensation
Jimmer Johnson was an average high school student with big ambitions. One day while he was out partying with his friends, he decided to get a fresh breath of air. Unfortunately, because he was so into the party, he was unaware of his surroundings and unable to walk properly. A large pickup truck contain hazardous materials was headed straight for him and he did not notice. The truck tried to turn away in order to avoid him, but unfortunately the truck turned over and the cargo of the truck burst open onto Jimmer. Jimmer's body was corroded and he was taken to the hospital in hopes of saving his life. An operation had to be done quickly so no numbing agent was able to be applied, however for some strange reason Jimmer didn't feel a thing. After the operation the doctors discovered that Jimmer has insane amounts of dopamine in his body which allowed him to feel at bliss and not experience pain. Also it was discovered that Jimmer's temporal lobe was abnormally stronger after the accident. Jimmer went back home and started to notice things changing for him. He was able to concentrate to such a degree that he can see the wings of a fly beat. One day he goes over to his friends house in order to comfort them about a dead family member. With just a simple touch of a hand he was able to transfer feelings of comfort to his friend and they instantly felt better. It was at this moment that he realized he had to power to subconsciously influence other's latent emotions such as comfort or even abilities such as concentration. He then decided to use this power for good and the media created the named Static Sensation as the crooks he captured never saw him but felt a strange sensation come over them. He wears a blue mask and wears a green cape. His suit is high tech making him able to easily control his powers without the need to necessarily be in contact with others.
With the help of the Super-Speaker, the Hearing Helper, and Opioid, Static Sensation joins a team of heroes known as the Temporal Team. They bond over their extremely functioning temporal lobe and become more than a group of friends working together. They become a family. The team goes on to squash threats to their city that could end happiness as they know it. After years of service, the temporal team is presented with the key to the city and a great to build a watchtower for the city in order to bette protect the innocents of the City.

Week 2 - Memory Analysis Test
My Memory is Average?
Short Term Memory: For the short term memory test, there were a list of words you were supposed to memorize and then reproduce them without being able to reference them. Out of a possible score of 12, I scored a 7 which is considered an average capacity.
Numerical Memory Test: For this test, there were dots you were expected to connected in numerical order and eventually the alphabet was added as well. The first of the 3 tests, I scored a 95.86 which is much higher than the average of 57.01. However, for the next 2 tests I scored around the average score with the averages being 36.54 and 24, whereas I scored 40.82 and 25.
Situational Judgement Memory Test: For this test, it was meant to test your problem solving skills by giving you situations in a time based environment and you were expected to choose the best solution. There were a total of 5 questions and I got 4 right. This meant that I passed and I have good to decent judgement when determining the best solution to problems.

Week 1- Online Icebreaker
2 years ago my basketball team in church won our 1st championship. I’ve been playing basketball for about 5 years now and I love both watching and playing it. Personality wise I like to think of myself as someone who always looks to help others but I admit I am selfish at times. I’m obviously proud of winning a championship because my team and I worked very hard over the summer for the tournament.
